Led by: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) |
Sector: Energy |
Duration: April 2024 - Ongoing |
Project background:
Following Vietnam’s net-zero by 2050 commitment, the Government of Vietnam and the International Partners Group (IPG), comprising industrialised economies from the G7, European Union (EU), Denmark, and Norway, announced the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). The JETP is articulated as “a long-term, ambitious partnership to support Vietnam’s low-emission and climate resilient development”.
Project summary:
The project aims to provide technical, human resources, and operational support to the JETP Government-led Secretariat and its working groups to support the effective and sustainable implementation of the JETP political declaration.
Our expected outcomes from the project:
This support will strengthen the Secretariat’s capacity and operational structure to facilitate the improvement of work planning, policy review and development, mobilisation of JETP finance and technical assistance, monitoring and evaluation of JETP progress, and project pipeline development in 2024 and 2025.
UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) is a unique capacity-building programme. Jointly governed and funded by the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) through the UK's International Climate Finance, it works in partnership with countries with high emissions reduction potential to support them to implement and increase their ambitions for tackling climate change.
