We are pleased to announce that today the UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) programme has launched a new funding opportunity in India within the urban planning and mobility sectors.
The India-UK PACT Country Fund is seeking proposals for projects for offering technical assistance to cities to deliver climate positive integrated urban planning and mobility to ensure sustainable economic growth. The deadline for submitting your proposal is 30 November 2024, 18:00 IST / 12:30 UTC.
What are we looking for?
This Call for Proposals aims to award grant funding for projects aimed at supporting the municipal corporations in Thoothukodi and Erode, located in Tamil Nadu, India. This funding will accelerate low-carbon development and strengthen climate resilience, improve governance, and facilitate the delivery of integrated urban planning and sustainable mobility solutions in these cities. Project activities should be directed towards providing technical assistance and capacity-building for key counterparts.
1. Theme 1- Integrating climate into city level urban plans: Develop a climate-integrated urban planning and governance strategy across sectors, to be prioritised by the city administration, which maximises climate mitigation goals along with adaptation co-benefits, while also supporting capacity-building of key city departments for enabling institutionalisation
2. Theme 2- Climate data-driven approaches to urban planning and mobility: Develop a climate-integrated data-driven urban planning and mobility framework across key public (municipal) services for city-level decisions, leveraging existing data-related infrastructure such as the integrated command and control centres
3. Theme 3- Access to accelerated climate finance: Technical assistance for strengthening the city’s financial planning and budgeting process to maximise climate mitigation benefits and adaptation co-benefits, while designing innovative financial/ business models that can access climate finance for delivering climate integrated priority projects.
