We are pleased to announce the launch of our call for proposals for projects in Colombia and South Africa for UK PACT’s Country Programmes. From today, organisations can submit an expression of interest for Country Programmes funding in the respective priority sectors in Colombia or South Africa. The submission deadline for Colombia is 11 August and for South Africa this is 7 August.
This year UK PACT’s Country Programmes have been extended to South Africa. We are inviting organisations to submit expressions of interest for projects that will build capacity in the following priority sectors: energy (sub-sectors: renewable energy and alternative fuel sources development, just energy transition, energy efficiency), sustainable transport and green finance. UK PACT will award successful projects with grants within the range of approximately £100,000 up to a maximum of £500,000.
Welcoming the launch of UK PACT in South Africa, Nigel Casey, the British High Commissioner said:
“As host of COP26 in Glasgow next year, we want all countries, including South Africa, to raise their ambition, both in respect of their global commitments to reduced emissions, and their own long term competitiveness, in the future low carbon trading and investment global environment. This programme will provide capacity building to help realise these ambitions, which will be demand-led, and targeted at local needs.”
In Colombia, UK PACT welcomes the submission of expressions of interest for projects in energy, sustainable mobility, green finance and sustainable livelihoods. Successful projects will receive UK PACT grants in the range of approximately £250,000 up to a maximum of £500,000.
This is the second funding round for UK PACT in Colombia. The first round launched in 2018, under which UK PACT has already funded 13 projects in the areas of energy, sustainable mobility, green finance, eco-tourism, green growth governance and measurement, reporting and verification (MRV).
Colin Martin-Reynolds, Ambassador to Colombia, welcomes the launch.
Through its grants, UK PACT aims to improve the capacity and capability of key public, private and civil society institutions to reduce emissions and foster inclusive economic growth in partner countries.
From an estimated start date of January 2021, all projects will deliver capacity-building in priority areas to support partner countries to pursue greater climate ambition.
