Join our market engagement webinar to find out how you can apply for grant funding for the forests sector Call for Proposals within the UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) programme in Brazil. Please note, this event will be hosted in Portuguese.

Who is this event for?

We invite all organisations with relevant experience in delivering technical assistance and capacity-building projects in the forests sector to register. This could be think-tanks, consultancies, academic institutions, community organisations, NGOs, professional associations, or any similar organisations that have the knowledge, skills and experience to deliver an eligible project.

Proposals from private sector entities are welcome. Government agencies and Government departments are not eligible to receive UK PACT funding.

What will we be funding?
Through consultation with the Government of Brazil, UK PACT has identified key opportunities for the forests sector. We are looking to award grant funding for one project aimed at providing technical assistance and capacity-building to support the Forest Department of the National Secretariat of Biodiversity, Forests and Animal Rights (SBio) in the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MMA). This is to contribute to Brazil’s NDC comittments, by structuring financial mechanisms for the National Native Vegetation Recovery Plan (PLANAVEG), an instrument defined by the National Native Vegetation Recovery Policy PROVEG, Decree 8,972/2017.

This Call for Proposals seeks to support the SBio team in their strategy to implement PLANAVEG. It also considers the projection of implementation costs for restoring 12 million hectares, as well as identifying and supporting access to diverse financing sources for each arrangement or target audience. SBio also aims to redesign and strengthen its public-private governance that defines financing mechanisms and tools to be operationalised on national, regional and local scales. It further looks to mainstream its GEDSI components to address barriers and promote engagement from marginalised groups.

To be eligible for funding, all projects must respond fully to the scope that will be presented in more detail during the event
.

What funding is available?

Successful projects will receive grants of up to £1,500,000 over 24 months. Projects will be selected through a one-stage open and competitive Call for Proposals.
